Xeno is a progressive metal band from Middelburg, The Netherlands, that mixes extreme-sounding ingredients with genre-defying passages. Combined with inspirational lyrics drawn from an array of philosophical and personal subjects, Xeno creates a unique atmosphere for listeners to lose themselves into. The music itself is influenced by bands like Periphery, Tesseract, Opeth, Plini and Porcupine Tree but also some good old Lamb of God.
Founded in 2008 under the name of Semiazas, Xeno had a very different face than it has now. After multiple changes in line-up, genre and even band name, the first album 'Atlas Construct' was released in 2016. Most reviewers mentioned the huge potential and unique sound of the band: "It could be easily said that Atlas Construct forces the limits of the melodic death metal genre." – Progstravaganza.
Anyone who has seen Xeno live will agree that the band gives one hell of a show. With powerful vocals, riffs and the stage energy to match, there is no denying the sheer force of Xeno on stage. This is only one of the many reasons that led to sharing the stage with bands like Voivod, Carach Angren and Spoil Engine, to name a few.
The new album, titled Sojourn, will be released on October 30th 2020 by Art Gates Records. The material for Sojourn was written mostly during the past two years after the latest line-up change, resulting in a spicy combination of the traditional sound and the influence of the new band members. The band has pushed the envelope and its personal boundaries harder than ever for this record, resulting in a musically diverse album while still maintaining a distinctive identity.
